2025 has been a wonderful year for us here at the Ki Agency and our authors. With the appointments of Helen Lane and Miriam Cortinovis as agents, we have had the pleasure of seeing the agency’s remit expanded, with their authors joining the Ki stable.

We started the year off strong, with the paperback release of The Last Song of Penelope (Orbit) by Claire North in February. This release marks the end of the critically acclaimed series The Songs of Penelope, retelling ancient Greek myths. We saw the end of the western-inspired Triggernometry series with Triggernometry Finals (Rattleback Books) by Stark Holborn. Not long after, Marianne Gordon released The Antlered King (HarperVoyager), which concluded the Raven’s Trade duology, following The Gilded Crown.

In March we saw M. R. Carey once again moving genres with Once Was Willem (Orbit). An enthralling dark medieval tale of macabre, dark magic and twisted folklore. It is a beautiful book you don’t want to miss.

For those interested in a genre-deep dive, Adam Roberts’ Fantasy: A Short History (Bloomsbury Academic) was published in April. The book retraces key moments in history that shaped the genre and its cultural impact.

Fans of K.C. Harper’s spicy romantasy series were delighted to see the release of Shattered Moonlight in April and Scattered Moonlight rounded off the trilogy in October (both Hodderscape).

Sticking with the sizzling romance, Digging Dr Jones (One More Chapter) came out in May. This spicy rom-com jungle adventure by debut author Olivia Jackson will make you laugh and swoon. May also saw Marie O’Regan’s contemporary horror tale of blues music, ghosts and a harmonica in Resurrection Blues (Black Shuck Books).

In June, Jarom Strong’s entire Paragon Space trilogy (Second Sky) was published simultaneously. This military space opera includes Starship Salvager, Starship Raider and finally Starship Rebellion. Yvonne Vincent released the ninth and final book in the Losers Club entitled Cruisers Club (WHB). This humorous murder mystery at sea will keep readers on their toes.

Bad Creek (Norton), a YA horror debut by Peyton June, released this July. This debut is a thrilling exploration of grief, feminism and sexuality within religious and LGBTQ+ spheres.

For The Road (PS Publishing) by Stark Holborn, a fantastical western novella about life, death and how love can be a saving grace, came out in August. K.C. Harper returned to give us a steamy sports romance. Rear View (Carina Press) is perfect for fans of fast cars, dark romance and thrilling plots. August also brought along more Greek mythological retellings with Aphrodite (HQ) by Phoenicia Rogerson.

The autumn gave us some excellent reading for spooky season, with Futility (Titan) by Nuzo Onoh, a monstrously funny supernatural tale of revenge and horror set in Nigeria. Daniel Church followed this up with The Sound of the Dark (Angry Robot), a paranormal thriller explored through the eyes of a true crime podcaster investigating mysterious (and deadly) folklore.

Claire North and M. R. Carey both gifted us sci-fi novels in November, perfectly timed for the gifting season. Claire North’s spectacular space opera Slow Gods (Orbit) tells the story of intergalactic colonisation and the events that led to war and fallen empires. M. R. Carey released Outlaw Planet (Orbit), an exhilarating sci-fi adventure warning us on the dangers of vengeance, loosely tied to his Pandominion series.

To end this year colourfully, John Allison published Kill or Be Quilt, part of his The Great British Bump-Off (Dark Horse Comics) graphic novel series. This funny and cosy mystery is a great release to wrap up 2025.

We would be remiss not to mention Marie O’Regan’s blockbuster THREE anthologies in 2025, all edited with Paul Kane. The Secret Romantic’s Book of Magic (Titan) collects spellbinding romantasy stories, These Dreaming Spires (Titan) is a follow-up dark academia anthology to In This Hallowed Hall (Titan)and to round off the year, Death Comes at Christmas, a holiday-themed murder mystery anthology has come out in paperback.

We are grateful for this amazing year we just had and are excitedly awaiting to see what 2026 brings!

Many thanks to agency intern Lou Toutain, who put together this blog post.
