Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Kat Bador, who joins Fab's list with her Malaysian-tinged sci-fi gothic set in a haunted hotel on the moon. Fab says: "Hantu is a wonderful spin on the cosy sci-fi established by Becky Chambers, adding a strong cultural rooting and complex mother-daughter relationship to the mix. Kat's writing made me cry!"
Kat is a writer, podcast host and poet. In 2025, she was shortlisted for the Future Worlds Prize for Hantu, and directed a short film for the HOME Young Creatives. She graduated from University of Manchester with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. In her spare time, she likes improv, poetry nights and playing her kazoo (badly).
