Orbit is set to publish a new "ingenious, touching" time travel novel from Claire North. Publisher Anna Jackson at Orbit UK bought world rights to As We Fall Through Time from Meg Davis at the Ki Agency. American rights were acquired by Angelica Chong at Orbit US, who will publish simultaneously alongside Orbit UK, in a co-ordinated global release this October.
As We Fall Through Time is described by Orbit as "an extraordinary and epic tale of time travel, betrayal and a love that echoes through the centuries". It follows the story of Cal, a time traveller who must try to fix a tear in the fabric of reality, in order to save both his lover and human history itself.
Jackson said: "Just when you think that Claire North’s writing can’t get any more impressive, they deliver a book which proves you wrong and leaves you speechless. As We Fall Through Time is an incredible novel – one that manages to be truly mind-bending, thought-provoking and heart-breaking all at the same time. It’s a genre-defying, thrilling and devastatingly romantic tale of time travel, love and loss, and changing the world. I defy anyone to read this book and not be bowled over by Claire North’s vastly impressive imagination."
Davis said: "I don’t know how they manage to combine a universe of ideas, a vivid sense of historical period, and a love story as layered and deeply felt as a symphony. As an agent, I feel very privileged to be involved; as a reader, this is a book I’ll treasure and keep coming back to."
North is a pseudonym for Catherine Webb, who wrote several novels in various genres before publishing their first major work as Claire North, The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August.
