Ani Bailey

Ani Bailey is an emerging Black British writer creating supernatural horror that encapsulates her Caribbean background through folklore storytelling and the reimagining of myth. She believes passionately that the African Diaspora is rich with unexplored narratives beyond what is typically represented and is particularly drawn to the African and Caribbean guileful archetype and its relationship to lore, which in turn becomes part of oral tradition and cultural inheritance.

Ani is a Monson Arts Alum and is working on her second novel, which explores the uneasy, often uncanny experience of being the liminal 'Other'. She was chosen as a Lighthouse Book Project Fellow for 2026-28, working under the mentorship of literary novelist Evanthia Bromiley.

Ani is also currently enrolled in a Speculative Fiction and Ancestral Exploration masterclass and was selected as part of the Black Girl and Horror Archival Research Cohort.

Her next literary ventures include the ‘Writing the Weird’ residency at Avon’s Lumb Bank, studying with Catriona Ward and Andrew Michael Hurley.

Ani lives in South London, a place of stark dualities that inspires her writing.
